Mayfair Organ Concerts

MAYFAIR ORGAN CONCERTS

October 2012 saw the dedication and inauguration of the splendid new organ, built by Richards, Fowkes & Co. at St George’s Church, Hanover Square. 2012 was also the 21st birthday of the wonderful William Drake organ in Grosvenor Chapel, South Audley Street. Mayfair now has two superb modern organs, both of which owe their inspiration to the 18th century, as befits the elegant buildings in which they stand, completed in 1730 and 1724 respectively. Both also preserve the cases of their original organs.

A fortnightly series of lunchtime concerts has been a feature of the musical life of Grosvenor Chapel since that instrument’s completion, and it is with great pleasure that we now present a weekly series alternating between the two churches. Mayfair has truly become a centre for fine organ music in London. Both churches also maintain professional choirs which can be heard in regular services accompanied by the distinguished organs.
