PROGRAMME OF EVENTS - Michaelmas 2019

Saturday 19th October - National Pilgrimage to the Shrine of St Edward the Confessor at Westminster Abbey

The Chapel pilgrimage will be led by Fr Alan Piggot.  People should meet at Grosvenor Chapel at 10.00 am.  The party will then walk down to the Abbey for the Festival Eucharist at 11.30 am - the Preacher will be the Archbishop of Canterbury.  There will be lunch afterwards.  Please let the office know if you wish to attend.

Sunday 27th October - Art Talk and Lunch

After the Sung Eucharist Mura Blackburn will be giving a talk on the painting 'Self Portrait' by Salvador Rosa' displayed at the National Gallery.  The talk will be followed by a bring and share lunch. Please let the office know if you wish to attend and state the food you are able to provide.

Thursday 31st October - Evensong for All Souls

This will take the form of a 'Lucenarium', the ancient liturgy of the 'lighting of the lamps', as an opportunity to pray for and remember those whom we love but see no longer.  If you wish, please enter the name of a departed loved one on the All Souls' List at the back of the Chapel or notify the Chapel office.

Sunday 10th November - Remembrance Sunday

Our Remembrance Sunday Service starting at 10.55 am is always a special moment in the life of the Chapel.  It is our tradition to offer a Requiem Mass (setting Faure) with orchestra and choir.

Sunday 24th November - The Feast of Christ the King with Talk and Lunch

Following our Sung Eucharist there will be a talk given by Gary Eaborn and a Chapel Lunch.  Gary is currently starting a PhD on the influence of St Ignatius of Loyola on two of the greatest twentieth century theologians: Karl Rahner and Hans Urs von Balthasar.  Rahner and Balthasar are known for their disagreements, but one thing they agreed about is that the Ignatian Spiritual Exercises are of great importance and contemporary relevance.  Gary will be exploring why the Exercises are, not just some ascetic tour de force, but can be a gift to the everyday spirituality of every Christian.  The cost of lunch is £15 including wine.  Please let the office know if you wish to attend.
